John played soccer for Almaden Soccer Club, District ODP team member, 3-year varsity soccer (Leland High School - Central Coast Section Finalist), Played for West Valley Junior College (State JC Championship Finalist, also played for US Navy. I have coached many teams over the last 40 years. US Youth E/D license, Goalkeeping coaching certificate, USSF and High School Referee. I have coached every age group both boys and girls from U6 to U19, including several years at 3 separate high schools. I have coached teams in San Diego, Illinois, Lake Tahoe and various northern California clubs (Ballistic United, San Juan Soccer Club, Almaden United, Modesto Ajax, Turlock FC, River City, Manteca FC). Most recently I was the head coach for the 2013 boys Timbers (33 players). I have coached several state and regional finalists, state semi-finalists and numerous tournament winners from Vegas to Reno. My coaching philosophy is a possession based, high pressure game. I have the unique experience of both coaching and being a parent of two boys who played competitive soccer. In addition, I am a grandfather to two granddaughters, both of which are players. I therefore have a greater perspective of the role of coaches and parents in this game. I am extremely passionate about the game and will always think of the players development first. I welcome discussion and will do my best to communicate with you and your athlete.

Director of Coaching John O'Neil

I hope to instill a love for the game in each player. My goal is to make every player better by the end of the season and in so doing, give them confidence to carry on to their highest potential within the game. This is different for each individual player and will change as they grow throughout the game. I have had many players play high school varsity and quite a few that played college soccer (from Div. 1 to NAIA). Many former players have also gone on to coaching, with at least one player coaching at Division 1 college level. I hope to get to know all of you and bring the best out of your kids. Please know my desire is to always do the best for each player on and off the field.

Goalkeeping Coach Bailey O'Neil

Soccer has been a constant presence in my life since I first began playing as a child. My competitive journey started at the young age of 8, and by 9, I discovered a natural talent and passion for playing goalkeeper.

Throughout my career, I was fortunate to receive exceptional coaching, which helped me reach milestones such as playing for the San Juan Development Academy in Folsom, CA, and later, continuing my career as a goalkeeper at the University of New England.

While my coaching journey is still young, having begun 4 years ago, I've found immense joy in sharing my passion for this beautiful sport with others. It is an honor and privilege to guide players on their soccer journeys, not just in terms of developing their skills on the field, but also in fostering a deeper appreciation for the valuable life lessons that soccer teaches, both on and off the pitch.

Technical Director David O'Neil

Growing up in Northern California, I was blessed to have played with some amazing top-level players and coaches. My time spent in ODP, US Development Academy, collegiate, and club soccer helped form the person I am today. I am extremely grateful to have been fortunate to play at a high level and my goal is to extend this gift that has blessed me in so many ways to any and every generation of soccer player I can reach. With 10+ years of competitive coaching experience, my hope is that I can help players reach their dreams and together make this world a better place through the universal language of OUR beautiful game.
